When the therapeutic alliance is working well, clients experience new insights into their situations, better understanding of their feelings and needs and an increase in their own ability to navigate life's obstacles.
Therapy can be uncomfortable at times but addressing emotional issues can improve your quality of life.
You can expect to talk about the concern/s that brought you into counselling, your aims for therapy and also about your background and personal history. You can share on a level that feels comfortable for you.
Discussions in counselling and psychotherapy are private and confidential.
There are a few legal exceptions when the safety of a client or others is at risk or by court order, can disclosure of confidential client-therapist information take place.
Exceptions to confidentiality will be discussed with you at your first meeting.
I follow the guidelines set out by the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy regarding privacy and confidentiality and I am bound by their professional code of ethics.
I offer counselling sessions online and in-person from Ashford, Kent.
For online counselling, I will send you a link by email before the session. You will need either a desktop, laptop or smartphone and a reliable internet connection to access the session.
The therapy sessions run for 50 minutes, usually meeting weekly or more or less often if needed, on the same day and time. A mutually agreeable time and day will be arranged in the free 20-minute introductory call.
The average number of sessions is 6. Some people prefer short term work to focus on a specific concern whereby others would opt for a more open-ended time frame where the work would be held at a deeper level.
An individual session costs £45.00. Concessionary rates available, contact me for more information.
24 hours notice is required. Please contact me to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
